Research Abstract
Dr. Al Ammary is Director of the Mixed Methods Research Program in the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension, and Kidney Transplantation at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He leads lead multiple NIH-funded projects (K23 & R03) and has previously served as a member of the AHRQ Patient-Centered Clinical Decision Support, Trust, and Patient-Centeredness Workgroup. His research program integrates advanced qualitative (in-depth interviews, focus groups) and quantitative methods (national surveys, single-center and registry analyses) to inform clinical decision-making, transplant access, and health policy, with the ultimate goal of improving longevity and wellness across diverse populations.
Awards and Honors
NIH NIDDK-funded awards (K23 and R03)
Short Biography
Dr. Fawaz Al Ammary is a physician-scientist whose research focuses on advancing data-driven approaches to population health, healthcare delivery, organ transplantation, and health policy. His work leverages registry-based research, survival and outcomes analysis, mixed-methods approaches, and telemedicine implementation to evaluate and improve real-world clinical care and health system performance.
He is double board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology, with subspecialty expertise in transplantation, and holds both an MD and a PhD. Dr. Al Ammary’s research emphasizes translating rigorous evidence into scalable strategies that improve long-term outcomes, access to care, and health equity across diverse patient populations.
