Short Biography
Dr. Annie Wang is a board-certified surgeon specializing in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Complex Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, and Foregut Surgery. She is an early career surgeon scientist, with special interest in the mechanisms underlying the metabolic effects of bariatric surgery and the effects of ventral hernias and their repair on core abdominal wall function. She has also studied bile acid and indole metabolic changes in a mouse model after roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery.
She graduated with High Distinction from the University of Toronto, where she obtained Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from New York University Grossman School of Medicine as an inductee to the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She remained at NYU for General Surgery Residency training, during which she completed an NIH T32 grant-supported postdoctoral research fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Diane Simeone. She then completed Advanced Minimally Invasive, Robotic and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at University of California Davis Medical Center.
