Short Biography
Dr. Tone is passionate about anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and perioperative care. He views anesthesiologists as de facto perioperative physicians. He has broad experience in the management of patients from the day they are booked for surgery, to the operating room, to the surgical ward or intensive care unit, and finally back home. This expertise is derived from his time as the associate program director of a robust perioperative surgical home program and his experience treating the most acutely ill patients during surgery and in the cardiothoracic and surgical/trauma intensive care units.
His interests also include hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical heart support, fluid management and resuscitation, anesthesiology for thoracic, transplant, trauma and vascular surgery, and point of care ultrasound. He reviews journal articles for the ASAIO Journal.
His goal is to provide exceptional care for patients from ALL walks of life who come to UCI Medical Center for treatment. He believes this requires clinical and technical expertise as well as collaboration, effective communication, team building, self-awareness, and training of the next generation of physicians. Accordingly, he is an ardent supporter of anesthesiology resident and fellow education.
