Research Abstract
Our studies are focused on alpha-, beta-, and theta-defensins, these peptides provide the host with the ability to fend off potentially invasive pathogens. We have isolated, synthesized and characterized several theta-defensins, 18-residue cyclic molecules, with strong antimicrobial activity. Their gene expression process is under our investigation.
