Dr. Olivia Lee is dual fellowship trained in both corneal diseases and uveitis. As a high school student, an internship at the Laboratory of Immunology at the National Eye Institute sparked her interest in uveitis and ophthalmology. She received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and trained at both New York Eye & Ear Infirmary as well as Jules Stein Eye Institute. Prior to her arrival at UCI, Dr. Lee served as the cornea fellowship program director at Doheny Eye Center UCLA.
Her clinical interests include inflammatory ocular surface disease and complex anterior segment surgery. She performs many types of corneal surgeries such as DSAEK, DMEK, DALK, Boston keratoprosthesis, ocular surface reconstruction, and limbal stem cell transplantation. Furthermore, she also offers cataract surgery, particularly in complex situations in the setting of uveitis.
Dr. Lee's research focuses on the use of anterior segment ophthalmic imaging to develop new clinical endpoints to objectively characterize disease severity and guide clinical decision-making. She has particular expertise in confocal microscopy for diagnosis and prognostication of ocular surface disease and infectious keratitis.
