Research Abstract
Prof. Corn has dedicated his career to the development and application of surface-sensitive spectroscopies such as surface plasmon resonance imaging, optical second harmonic generation, and polarization-modulation FTIR spectroscopy for the characterization of solid-liquid and liquid-liquid interfaces. His research interests include the development of new optical methods for multiplexed biosensing, the on-chip templated biosynthesis of nucleic acid and protein microarrays, the study of bioaffinity uptake into single polymer nanoparticles, the fabrication of nanostructured interfaces with unique optical, physical and properties, the synthesis of magnetic nanomaterials for biosensing and high frequency inductor applications, and the use of nucleic acids for DNA computing and other non-biological applications.
