Research Abstract
My research focuses on the physiological aspects of mechanical ventilation, the effects of diaphragm inactivity with mechanical ventilation on diaphragm muscle function, and the role of diaphragm muscle fatigue as a contributor to acute respiratory failure. I am also interested in the interactions between mechanical ventilation, short-term high-dose corticosteroid, and paralytics in producing criticall-illness myopathy in patients receiving these treatment in the intensive care unit.
