Short Biography
Deepika Nathan, MS, LCGC, is a board-certified genetic counselor with a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago. She received her Bachelor's degree in Genetic Engineering from SRM University, India. Ms. Nathan started working at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center in November 2014 where she currently provides comprehensive genetic counseling and risk assessment to individuals with a personal and/or family history of cancer.
She is also a faculty member, (Health Sciences Associate Clinical Professor) within the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine, Department of Pediatrics at UC Irvine Health - teaching courses and providing clinical supervision to medical residents, fellows, and genetic counseling graduate students.
Ms. Nathan previously worked as a cancer genetic counselor for adult and pediatric populations at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, University of Utah. While completing her undergraduate education in India, Ms. Nathan also pursued a postgraduate diploma in psychological counseling from IPMS, India and worked extensively with children with autism.
Her primary area of interest is in the field of pediatric oncology specifically in the psychosocial and behavioral outcomes of genetic testing in adults and minors. She is an active board member of the Ethics Committee at UCI Medical Center & the UC Irvine Speakers Bureau- which focuses on community outreach and education.
She loves to cook, tries to bake, and binge watches horror movies with lights on! She loves rainy mornings on a weekend and endlessly cuddling her dog and sons.
