Research Abstract
Dr. Tarver’s research focuses on how innovative technology platforms and delivery models can enhance treatment for depression and anxiety and improve access to care globally. She is currently collaborating on a research study with Dr. Vikram Patel in the Mental Health for All Lab and Dr. Paul Barreira at Harvard University evaluating the effectiveness of a mobile mental health app at improving depression and anxiety for college and graduate students at Harvard. She also spearheaded Harvard’s first Global Mental Health Hackathon in April 2018 to catalyze momentum through cross-disciplinary collaboration and find solutions to the global mental health crisis.
Short Biography
Dr. Leslie Tarver is an Assistant Clinical Professor in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California Irvine and Medical Director of the UCI Adolescent and Young Adult Partial Hospital Program and Intensive Outpatient Program (PHP/IOP). She is also an affiliate faculty member at Harvard Medical School in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine.

In her role as medical director of the UCI PHP/IOP, Dr. Tarver oversees the comprehensive clinical care of adolescents and transitional age youth (TAY) which involves a multidisciplinary approach including psychopharmacology, family therapy and individual therapy. Her clinical interests in addition to adolescent and TAY mental health include integration of mental health and primary care and innovation in mental health care delivery.

Dr. Tarver is also a faculty advisor to the UCI medical student initiative to establish the Adolescent Depression Awareness Program (ADAP) at local high schools.

Dr. Tarver graduated from Harvard College in Social Anthropology and completed a Master's degree in Public Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She also spent time on Capitol Hill doing health policy research and with a United Nations affiliate in Vienna, Austria researching innovative healthcare delivery models.
