Research Abstract
My research aims to understand the world at its smallest and most fundamental scale. I specialize in elementary particles called "neutrinos", which can be thought of as the cousins of the electrons but which carry no electric charge. Neutrinos do some strange things no other particles do, such as traversing large quantities of matter (e.g. the entire planet Earth) without stopping and changing types as they travel. By studying them we can learn a lot about the fundamental makeup of our world as well as about the sources that produce them, such as our Earth, the Sun and supernova explosions, among many others.
