Short Biography
Katy Khalighi, MD went to medical school in Tehran/Iran. She has completed 3 years of internal residency before she moved to US in 2001.She was born in France where her father was working on his PHD degree, but she was raised and grown up in IRAN. she lived in university campus where her parents were working in academic field. After she moved to US and passed medical board exams, she trained for family Medicine Residency in St. Joaquin General hospital which was an affiliated program of UC DAVIS. Then she continued residency program in USC-California Hospital, located in Downtown LA. After graduation, she got her first job in community health center in Riverside County and practiced in underserved community for almost 2 years. At that time, she has noticed that she is extremely interested taking care of elderly and focusing on their need, so she decided to join Geriatric Fellowship in Kaiser Permanente/Fontana. Dr. Khalighi joined Pomona Valley Medical Center as primary care and geriatric attending after fellowship graduation. She enjoyed working in another community clinic as well as working in PVMC Hospital. She also gained some experience working in Long Term care facilities for 6 months before joining UCI Senior Health Center. Her practice in UCI Senior Health Center has been started since March 2017 till now. Currently, Dr. Khalighi holds certifications from American Board of Family Medicine and American Board of Geriatric. She is going to join UCI School Of Medicine Women’s Leadership Academy in Summer of 2021.She is also has a specialty clinic which is “Geriatric assessment for oncology patients”. Her goal is including improving quality of life and survival of cancer patients and also providing them social support.
