Research Abstract
Dr. Connie Rhee is a physician-scientist devoted to the study of endocrine derangements in chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease patients, as well as novel therapeutic strategies for advanced kidney disease. She is a graduate of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Honors Program in Medical Education, and she completed her residency and chief residency at the Oregon Health and Science University. She subsequently pursued a combined research and clinical nephrology fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital and a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. As a clinical investigator in the University of California Irvine Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Dr. Rhee leads clinical trials and prospective and retrospective observational research studies centered upon endo-nephrology and the conservative and preservative management of advanced kidney disease. She is currently the Principal Investigator of two NIH/NIDDK R01 awards and one R03 award, and she has also led other NIH, National Kidney Foundation, American Thyroid Association, and industry supported grants as the Principal Investigator. She has published over 200 manuscripts to date, and she is devoted to the mentorship of a wide cadre of trainees.
