Abstract
Dr. Goodman is working on a book project, titled Civic Integration Requirements and the Transformation of Citizenship. It compares membership requirements for naturalization (including citizenship tests, integration courses, language requirements, and citizenship ceremonies) across the EU-15 and includes a paired comparison of the UK and The Netherlands. She is also working on a number of related papers, including a comparative study of citizenship test content, an analysis of integration-from-abroad programs, and the relationship between diversity politics and democratic consolidation.

Relating to this work, she is also completing a commissioned comparative analysis for the EUD0-CITIZENSHIP PROJECT, titled The Politics of Naturalization: Patterns and Trends Across Europe. This paper focuses on basic residence-based as well other selected modes of acquisition (including socialization, marriage, cultural affinity and refugee status), with discussion of naturalization requirements, such as renunciation of former citizenship, language, knowledge of host society, citizenship tests and citizenship ceremonies.
