Abstract
Recent advances in nanofabrication have opened new opportunities for studies of fundamental properties of matter at the nanometer length scale and for utilizing these properties in new types of electronic devices. My research interests are focused on new physical phenomena resulting from the interactions between magnetic, electronic and lattice degrees of freedom in lithographically-defined and self-assembled nanostructures.

Examples of such research topics include spin currents and spin angular momentum transfer in ferromagnetic nanostructures, magnetization dynamics of nanomagnets, proximity effect in ferromagnet/superconductor systems, domain wall motion in ferromagnetic nanowires, and non-equilibrium magnetic phase transitions driven by spin-polarized current.

This research relies on design and development of new nanoscale electronic devices using state-of-the-art nanofabrication techniques. Experimental measurements of electronic processes in these nanodevices are typically carried out with sub-nanosecond time resolution at cryogenic temperatures. This research also involves growth of thin films and multilayers using high-vacuum deposition equipment.
