Abstract
Broadly, my research is in the areas of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). These areas are concerned with how people work with computers, individually and in groups. We tackle these problems using a range of approaches, including technical (building systems), experimental (studying their use in laboratory settings), analytical (developing theories of interaction and use), and empirical (studying the use of systems and the conduct of activity in real-world settings). As you can probably imagine, such a wide range of activities draw not just on traditional computer science, but also on other disciplines, including sociology, anthropology, psychology, and philosophy.
