I am currently pursuing research in the following areas: (1) the general characterization of semiotic systems; (2) the principles of semiotic evolution; (3) the formal study of the visual and kinetic dimensions of written language and writing systems; (4) the historical bases for cross-modal communication, especially those originating in the 17th century; (5) the formal study of film and architecture; and (6) generative homiletics. | |
