Research Abstract
Feldman's research interest in computing resource management includes many of the problems involved in efficient and effective utilization of computing resources in organizations. How much money should the organization spend on computing? How should the organization decide how much to spend, i.e. should the decision be made at a high level in the organization, or should the decision be decentralized? What are the consequences of centralizing decisions on the acquisition of personal computers? How should the organization's computing budget be divided between hardware, software, personnel, data communications? How can the organization effectively allocate computing resources between contending users? When should the organization expand or replace computing resources? Who should make the selection decision? What terms and conditions are appropriate in contracting for the purchase of computing resources? How can the organization plan for the provision of computing services?
